3. Detective wants city to investigate mayor
Denver Police Detective Leslie Branch-Wise, who accused Mayor Michael Hancock of sending her sexually inappropriate text messages nearly six years ago, wants the Denver City Council to do more to investigate the issue. The council released a statement last week indicating there will be no further investigation and in response, Branch-Wise says she thinks the council is sweeping the issue under the rug to protect the mayor.

4. Another government shutdown looms
Here we go again. Funding for the government will run out at midnight Friday unless lawmakers can put together a deal to keep everything running.

5. Shake Shack opens this week
It's the moment Shake Shack fans have been waiting for -- the burger chain's first Denver location opens on Wednesday. It'll serve up some special Colorado menu items like a burger with green chile on top, as well as local beers.
