LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A 17-year-old boy has died after an incident in Lakewood that left three people shot and one person assaulted early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched about 4:15 a.m. on a shots fired call near Wadsworth Boulevard and Florida Avenue. When they arrived, they found two people with gunshot wounds a couple blocks away, police spokesman Rob Albrets said.

Those victims were taken to the hospital, and police later located the other two victims, who had gone to the hospital on their own. Police confirmed later Sunday morning that one of the victims, the 17-year-old, had died.

No suspect was in custody, but police believed the people involved in the incident knew each other and that there wasn't a danger to the public. More information on the case wasn't being released yet.

A fatal shooting also happened Sunday morning in southwest Denver, about two miles away, but police said the two incidents weren't related.
