AURORA, Colo. — Water froze over an Aurora intersection after a water main break and three cars, including an Arapahoe County deputy vehicle, slid and crashed into each other Thursday morning.

Deputy John Bartmann with the Arapahoe County Sheriffs Office said one of its deputies and two other cars were involved in the crash, which occurred at E. Iliff Avenue and S. Parker Road.

The three vehicles all hit a sheet of ice and slid at the same time, Bartmann said.

The deputy and two civilian drivers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The Denver Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.

At 7:39 a.m., Aurora Water said southbound S. Parker Road, one lane of northbound Parker and eastbound E. Iliff Avenue are open to traffic, but westbound Iliff remains closed at Havana. This closure is in effect until 4 p.m.

Use alternate routes.
