LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Officers have arrested two teenagers in connection with the murder of two brothers in the parking lot of a Lakewood Walmart store, the Lakewood Police Department announced Monday afternoon.
LPD said that a 17-year-old male from Denver was arrested previously, and that a 16-year-old male was arrested Monday afternoon in Commerce City. Both are being held for investigation on suspicion of committing first-degree murder.
The shooting happened Aug. 23 just before 8:30 p.m. at the Walmart at 7455 W. Colfax Ave. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 18-year-old Damian Wikoff and 17-year-old Dillon Wikoff with gunshot wounds.
The brothers were taken to area hospitals and were both pronounced dead.
Lakewood police said Monday that the shooting “does not appear to be random.” They said they could release no other information about the suspects because they are juveniles. Police have not discussed a possible motive for the shooting.
The two teenagers were taken into custody by Lakewood police and the U.S. Marshals Colorado Violent Offender Task Force.
LPD said the case and investigation remain active. They ask anyone with other information about the case to call them at 303-763-6800.
