15-year-old Grand Junction teen arrested in connection to friend shot in back

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly shooting his 14-year-old friend in the back.

The Daily Sentinel reports that Grand Junction police say the 15-year-old was arrested Wednesday night after the shooting. The victim is being treated at St. Mary's Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released the names of either teen involved.

The 15-year-old is expected to appear before a Mesa County magistrate judge Friday. He is being held at the Grand Mesa Youth Services Center on suspicion of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, prohibited use of a weapon, and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
