LAFAYETTE, Colo. — A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in Lafayette Sunday, and a juvenile has been charged for the crime.
The Lafayette Police Department received a call at 1:07 a.m. Sunday that a 14-year-old male with a gunshot wound had been brought by private vehicle to Good Samaritan Hospital. He died from his injuries.
Lafayette investigators obtained information at the hospital that led them to a home in the 400 block of West Oak Street in Lafayette. An accidental shooting was reported to have occurred at the home.
Investigators identified a juvenile who was suspected to be involved, according to police. The juvenile was booked on a charge of manslaughter and released to parents. Police said the parents and the juvenile were cooperative in responding to the department.
The department did not release further details on the victim or the juvenile who was arrested.
