ASPEN PARK, Colo. — A 22-year-old Wheat Ridge man died in a crash involving a Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) vehicle on US 285 Thursday.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of 285 at mile marker 237, near Aspen Park, according to Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

In an update Friday, CSP said both vehicles were in the left lane when the 20-foot box truck ran into the back of the CDOT vehicle. The 22-year-old driver of the box truck was not wearing a seat belt. He died in the crash. His identity has not been released.

The CDOT driver was not injured. No charges are expected for the driver.

The southbound lanes of 285 shut down until about 4:30 p.m.
