LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Lakewood Monday morning.
The crash took place on West Alameda Avenue at South Oak Street around 7:30 a.m and involved five vehicles.
According to police, four cars were stopped at a light when a pickup approached and, without braking, collided with a minivan at the back of the line of vehicles.
Police said the driver of the minivan, a woman, was killed in the crash. A child passenger in the van was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
One person from one of the other involved vehicles was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, police said.
The westbound lanes of Alameda were shut down between Kipling and Oak due to the crash and eastbound traffic was being diverted onto another road.
Accident at Alameda & Oak is a fatality. On-going investigation will impact traffic for quite some time, alternate routes suggested.
