DENVER – Crime Stoppers gave out $9,550 to tipsters in January who significantly helped police build cases against crime suspects.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers received 351 tips that helped solve 17 cases. Tipsters are eligible for up to a $2,000 reward. Reward amounts vary based on the value of the tip to the case. More than one person can be eligible for reward money in a single case.

One tip helped solve the case of vandalism inside the Colorado state Capitol.

Vandals broke into the Colorado state Capitol and broke cases, destroyed furniture and tipped over busts on Jan 29. Elias Anthony Dominguez, 26, now faces a charge of second-degree burglary.

In another case, tips helped police make a stronger case against a suspected murderer. The specifics of the case solved were not released.

Tips also solved robberies at a Home Depot in Denver and a Walgreen's in Federal Heights.

If you have information for police, call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP. Callers can remain anonymous. The tip line is answered 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.

Rewards are handed out monthly.
