WESTMINSTER, Colo. – A Westminster High School teacher has been charged on suspicion of sex assault on a child Thursday, according to the city’s police department.
Administrators told officers a school employee noticed “odd” behavior between a specific male teacher and a female student. The school employee then reported this behavior to administrators, who reported it to police.
The teacher was identified as Benjamin Forbes, 30, and was arrested on two separate charges of sex assault on a child: position of trust and pattern of abuse.
A Westminster Schools spokesperson released the following statement regarding the investigation:
Westminster High School math teacher, Ben Forbes is no longer employed by Westminster Public Schools. He resigned his position on Thursday, December 1 after the conclusion of an internal investigation, which was shared with the Westminster Police Department.
Mr. Forbes also served as head boys [sic] soccer coach and assistant coach to the boys’ basketball team and girls’ soccer team.
Mr. Forbes has been arrested on the charges of sexual assault on a child-position of trust and sexual assault on a child-pattern of abuse.
Respecting due process for all parties involved, we continue to follow district policy and procedures and are referring details about the investigation to the Westminster Police Department.

Forbes will be held at the Adams County Detention Facility.
