Suspect who caused lockouts at 4 schools ID'd as Brandon Jaymes Romero, police say

WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- Police have released the identity of the man accused in an armed robbery that caused lockouts at four schools.

Around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reported that an armed man got in her car and threatened her in a parking lot outside the Planet Fitness at 72nd and Sheridan.

The woman told police the man stole a large amount of money and prescription medication.

Officers set up a perimeter to search for the suspect and put four nearby schools on lockout.

The lockout was lifted at 12:23 p.m.

The suspect, 26-year-old Brandon Jaymes Romero, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. about six miles away, near 118th and Sheridan.

He was jailed on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

Police said the victim in the robbery was not hurt.
