WELD COUNTY, Colo. -- Two people are in custody after a 20+ mile police chase early Friday morning.
Officials said Denver police initially got a call about shots fired at Interstate 25 and 58th Avenue.
Northglenn police spotted the vehicle at Interstate 25 and 120th and gave chase. Northglenn police were assisted by Broomfield police, Weld County Sheriff's deputies and the Colorado State Patrol.
A Colorado State Patrol trooper threw out spike strips near Highway 52 and that stopped the suspect's car. Authorities took two people into custody and recovered the alleged firearm. It was a BB gun, authorities told Denver7.
A deputy was injured when the rope attached to the spike strip snapped back and cut his finger, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
A FedEx truck was also stopped at the scene after hitting the spike strip and flattening a front tire.
As authorities were investigating this situation, a pedestrian was hit and killedon the nearby frontage road.
