WELD COUNTY, Colo. -- Deputies are investigating a bizarre situation in Gill that involved an attempted break-in, a house fire and a false report of a shooting.
The situation started around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday when dispatchers got a call about a possible shooting near Highway 392 and Highway 67 in Gill, about 17 miles northwest of Greeley.
The man who called 911 said he had been shot.
"When deputies arrived on scene they found that the suspect, a 27-year-old male, was trying to break into his neighbor’s house," the Weld County Sheriff's Office said. "His actions suggested that he was apparently high on an unknown substance."
Deputies said the man had not been shot.
However, while deputies were investigating the attempted break-in, deputies said they learned that the suspect’s house was on fire and fully engulfed in flames.
Deputies said Aron Miramontes was arrested on suspicion of arson, burglary, attempted criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
No one was injured.
