WELD COUNTY, Colo. -- A cat stuck on a water tower in Weld County for at least four days was rescued Wednesday morning.
LaSalle Police chief Carl Harvey told Denver7 the first report about the cat on the LaSalle water tower came in Sunday afternoon.
"We normally give them two or three days to come down by themselves," Harvey said. "This cat has tried at least twice to come down, but didn't make it."
Harvey said because the cat had been without food or water for four days, officials were concerned the cat's health might be compromised.
"We don’t know why the little guy climbed up there, but now he can’t get down," resident Karen Gilden told Denver7.
Harvey said officials tried to find someone to rescue the cat, but two groups willing to try wanted $2,800 - $4,600.
"That's not an option," Harvey said.
Wednesday morning, a technical rescue team from Fort Collins agreed to help rescue the cat.
The team used a drone to inspect the tower, then sent up a crew and a cat carrier.
The crew managed to get the cat in the carrier and lowered the cat to the ground. The cat went to a local veterinarian's office to be checked out.
