THORNTON, Colo. -- Destiny Outreach Ministries in Thornton will have an Easter mass this Sunday after all.
It's hard to believe that it's possible after the damage that was done when police say three teenagers ransacked the inside of the church earlier this week.
"Everything was smashed," said Pastor Walter Coventry. "There was glass everywhere, all over the floor on the top level and on the bottom level."
There was an estimated $80,000 in damages. Coventry only had a few days to clean everything up before Easter weekend. He thought he would have to do most of it himself, but he was wrong.
"We just started getting volunteer after volunteer coming and helping," he said. "They walked through the doors wondering how they could help."
Today the church is all cleaned up, minus a few cosmetic issues that still need to be addressed. Coventry said he's been getting calls from people not only in Colorado but across the country with everyone offering help.
"It just blows me away," he said. "I am so grateful and touched how the body of Christ in our community has just come around and helped us out."
A GoFundMe page is up and running if you want to help donate to Destiny Outreach Ministries.
