PARKER, Colo. -- Hundreds of people came together in Parker as an injured officer continues to recover following a shootout that left him in critical condition in Parker two weeks ago.
The Coffee Cabin in Parker held a fundraiser for Douglas County Sheriff's Office Detective Dan Brite from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds made between 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be donated to Brite and his family, a spokesperson for the coffee shop said on Facebook.
"This man took care of people in the middle of a horrible thing," said Wesley Crespi, owner of Coffee Cabin. "And he didn’t even think twice about his own life. We need to start thanking these people, start embracing these people and letting them know how important they are."
Denver7 reporter Russell Haythorn said the turnout was huge, with people forming long lines to show their support for Detective Brite.

"We waited in line for an hour and 10 minutes and it was the best hour that we’ve spent," said customer Giovanna Urioste.
A prayer service was also held at 3 p.m. at Parker Adventist Hospital so the community can pray for the continued recovery of Detective Brite.
Organizers asked attendees to dress in blue clothes and bring U.S. flags to the event.
