LOVELAND, Colo. -- Two people are dead after a fatal motorcycle crash on US 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon. Crews at the scene expected closures will last for several hours, an official with the Loveland Fire Rescue said Sunday afternoon.

A Colorado State Trooper at the scene said both riders of a motorcycle died at the scene on the crash.  A car was found at the scene at mile post eight, and the trooper said the crash appeared to be a head-on collision.

US 34 west of Loveland was closed at the Dam Store for several hours due to the accident. The highway is expected to be closed for about five hours, the Loveland Fire Rescue official said on Twitter.

The Colorado Department of Transportation posted signs about the closure. This crash is under investigation.
