LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- The area of Sheridan Boulevard and West 1st Avenue was shut down early Saturday after SWAT officers wounded a man.

Agents were attempting to contact a party with at least seven felony warrants, according to Rob Albrets with the Lakewood Police Department.

They responded to the 7-Eleven at the intersection around 4:20 a.m..

Agents were able to contact the wanted man on the phone and he reportedly told them he was armed, according to Alberts.

SWAT responded and the man was later shot.

There was no information available about the man's condition or what led up to the shooting.

There was an armored SWAT vehicle parked near an older model orange pickup which had four to five bullet holes in the driver's side window.

Police warned that the intersection and nearby areas could be closed for an unknown amount of time.

Sheridan Boulevard was closed both directions between West 1st and West Bayaud Avenues. West 1st Avenue was closed at Sheridan Boulevard. Roads were back open at around 12:30 p.m.
