LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Police have arrested a father in connection with the death of his infant daughter.
Officers and paramedics were called to a home on 16th Avenue, near Sheridan, in Lakewood in March on a report of a child having difficulty breathing, Lakewood Police said.
Three-month-old Naomi Jones was taken to the hospital, but she died three days later.
"She had numerous serious injuries that detectives felt were unexplained or inconsistent with the account that Josiah [the father] provided," Lakewood Police said.
Officers said after an extensive investigation and receiving the coroner's report, Josiah Lamarr Jones, 21, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death, child abuse resulting in serious injury and violation of a protection order.
