GREELEY, Colo. -- A Good Samaritan who stopped on the Highway 34 Bypass to help people in a crash ended up hit and seriously injured herself.

The woman stopped at the scene of a head-on crash near 7tth Avenue at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

The woman parked her car on the shoulder and was struck crossing the highway on foot, according to Greeley Police.

Officers said that the woman was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery for multiple injuries.

One of the victims in the head-on crash was taken to the hospital, but did not survive.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the initial crash, but they believe a blue Subaru driving westbound on the Hwy 34 Bypass lost control due to icy road conditions. The driver slid off the roadway, went through the median, then into the eastbound lanes colliding with an eastbound Nissan.
