Eight people were taken to the hospital after an apartment building fire in Greeley.
The fire was first reported about 7:20 a.m. Thursday on 12th Street at 12th Avenue.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor, according to Dale Lyman with the Greeley Fire Department.
Lyman said the fire burned in a large home that had been converted into apartments, with several additions over the years.
All eight people taken to the hospital evacuated themselves from the fire, but needed to be treated for smoke injuries, Lyman said.
Firefighters contained the fire to one unit. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
