Horsetooth Reservoir ranked as No. 3 best lake in the U.S. by Foursquare

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Horsetooth Reservoir has been named one of the best lakes in the United States by the social media app Foursquare.

Foursquare lets people check themselves "in" at places and review the locations.

Horsetooth Reservoir currently has a score of 9.6 out of 10, according to Foursquare's website.

That ranks Horsetooth as the No. 3 lake in the country after Lake Harriet in Minneapolis and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in New York.

"Placing third on this list is an indication that visitors really enjoy Horsetooth Reservoir," said Gary Buffington, director of Larimer County Department of Natural Resources. "Our staff works hard to provide visitors with fun, safe experiences at Horsetooth, and this ranking is further affirmation that we're doing just that."
