DENVER – Back in August, the City of Denver celebrated the opening of two new housing options for the homeless: Catholic Charities of Denver and the Sanderson Apartments on Federal Boulevard.
The latter, modeled after permanent supportive housing projects in other U.S. cities, is providing safe and affordable homes to 60 Denver citizens experiencing homelessness as well as health services to help them live independently in the community.
The Sanderson Apartments were built using the idea of “trauma-informed design,” meaning the building is specifically designed to help foster a sense of safety and well-being for its residents.
Denver7’s Sally Mamdooh takes us inside this unique approach to combating homelessness. Watch the story in the player above.
