Suspect arrested in Tejon Street homicide, questions still remain

DENVER -- A suspect in a deadly northeast Denver shooting has been arrested and is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder by Denver Police.  

Robert Moore, 54, was taken into custody Friday as officers continue to investigate a homicide in the 4200 block of Tejon Street, near Smedley Elementary School and Chaffee Park.

Video from AIRTRACKER7 showed police cars blocking both ends of a city block.

Denver Police said the victim is a man who was apparently shot and killed. Late Friday, the victim was identified by the Office of the Medical Examiner as Zachariah Chavez, 35. Chavez died from a gunshot wound.

Moore has a long rap sheet consisting of drug possession, drug distribution, driving under the influence, assault and menacing charges. 

Investigators have not released any other information, including a possible motive for the shooting.
