Delays up to 1 hour at Denver Intl. Airport

Posted at 7:15 AM, Jan 08, 2016

Denver International Airport says the Federal Aviation Administration is slowing flights into Denver this morning and passengers may see delays up to one hour.

Airport officials said the airport had about 2.6 inches of snow as of 5 a.m. and is expecting an additional two to three inches today.

The airlines have reported 24 flight cancellations. That's about two percent of the scheduled flights.

"Snow-removal crews have been deployed and will remain active for the duration of the snow," airport officials said. "The airlines are in full deicing operations, so passengers should expect to spend a little extra time on the aircraft prior to departure. The average deicing time is approximately 16 minutes, but can vary based on the type of aircraft."
