From blizzard to the beach, Colorado volleyball enthusiasts escape the snow

BROOMFIELD, Co. -- Even some longtime Coloradans were looking for an escape from our spring blizzard, and many found it at The Oasis.

Dozens of people were there Wednesday, to get out of the snow and put their toes into the sand for beach volleyball.

"The heaters are always on in the winter, they have tropical drinks here so it is a little oasis away from the snow and blizzard outside," Katrina Delene said.

The Oasis has several indoor volleyball courts, a tiki bar and heaters, so people changed out of their snow caps and coats for shorts and t-shirts, to escape the blizzard conditions taking place outside the doors.

“When it’s negative 40 outside we are here enjoying the sand and the warmth," Mercedes Adair said.

Oasis Volleyball is open year-round. So no matter how cold it is outside, beach like conditions await those inside.

“It’s like a little beach in this bomb cyclone 2.0," Jennifer Page said.
