BOULDER, Colo.-- It's a murder mystery that captured world-wide attention.

JonBenet Ramsey was a six-year-old beauty queen found strangled to death inside her family's Boulder home the morning after Christmas in 1996.

Nearly 20 years after her murder, the case remains unsolved, but several television and cable networks plan to run specials to revisit the mystery as the anniversary approaches.

A&E aired the first special Monday night, a two hour documentary, called The Killing of JonBenet: The Truth Uncovered, which revealed new details about the infamous cold case.

JonBenet's father also opened up about the day he found his little girl's body.

"I didn't know what to do. This is my child and she's not breathing, uh, so I was just screaming," said John Ramsey in an interview with A&E.

Ramsey also provided heartbreaking new details about dealing with the constant accusations that he and his wife killed their daughter.

"Death would have been a welcome relief from the pain and agony I felt," he said.

It would take authorities 12 years to exonerate the family.

The documentary also revealed just how focused Boulder police were on the Ramseys.

It points to a never before seen DNA report ordered a few days after the 1996 murder on a spot of blood found in JonBenet's underwear.

"The report to the Boulder police, seen here for the first time, made clear it did not come from John Ramsey or anyone else in the family," the A&E documentary said.

It said Boulder police ignored the report and did not pass it off to the district attorney's office for months.

Evidence DNA analysts in the film said prove an intruder is responsible.

"I think the inescapable conclusion is that an unidentified male committed this crime," said Dr. Lawrence Kobilinsky said according to the documentary. "This person committed that sexual assault and murdered JonBenet."

Last week, the Boulder police department released a new video promising justice for JonBenet. It said investigators have reviewed 1,500 pieces of evidence including 200 DNA samples and fielded some 20,000 tips.
