BOULDER, Colo. -- The University of Colorado in Boulder is facing $150,000 in possible fines after students and fans rushed the field after two football games.
Conference policy requires fans stay off the field for 60 seconds after a game to keep the visiting team's players safe.
In May, the Pac-12 conference announced a fine schedule for teams whose fans storm the field, or court, after a game.
"Starting in the 2016-17 academic year, fines will be applied to institutions as follows: $25,000 for first offense, $50,000 for a second offense, and $100,000 for a third offense," according to the Pac-12's website.
CU was already fined $25,000 this fall after fans rushed the field following a 40-16 win over Arizona State on Oct. 15, according to our partners at the Boulder Daily Camera.
The newspaper reported that fans also rushed the field after CU's last two victories at Folsom Field on Nov. 19 and Nov. 26. and conference officials confirmed that both of those incidents are under review and could result in additional fines.
"This enhanced policy underscores the importance our universities place on the safety and welfare of our student-athletes, officials and fans, and will allow us to educate staffs and fans on procedures going forward," said Mike Williams, Director of Athletics at the University of California, Berkeley.
