Where are the most crime-ridden hot spots in the city of Aurora?
That is a question the Aurora Police Department has answered in an effort to target those areas with more patrol officers to reduce crime, increase traffic safety and reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes.
The Aurora Police Department mapped out crime and crash data and found there is a clear correlation between car crashes and crime.
Using their data, 7NEWS plotted those hot spots for you on the following map:
As you can see, the East Colfax Corridor and the North Chamber Road Corridor see the most car accidents and crime.
Residents and drivers in all of the hot-spots can expect to see more enforcement of traffic laws with both marked and unmarked patrols and possibly more stops in the area.
The APD said in a statement that the goal of the program is not to increase traffic citations, but to modify driving behaviors and deter crime, with the overall goal of making Aurora a safer place for everyone to live in and enjoy.
