ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. -- The five teenagers involved in a deadly, rollover crash near Bennett Tuesday were all students at Bennett High School, according to the Bennett School District.

Two teenagers were killed and three teenagers were hospitalized.

The Bennett School District said the people hospitalized are 16-year-old James Dickerson, 15-year-old Ciara Bingham and 18-year-old Malachi Clifford. The victims killed in the crash have not yet been identified.

Clifford's mom posted on Faceook that her son was in critical condition.

Bingham's family said she has broken bones, a cracked spine and two collapsed lungs, but is expected to recover.

"We don't have to go through any surgeries now, she's got multiple breaks, rib breaks, her lungs have deflated but they're coming back up so there's no further extreme concern," said Melanie Lynch, Bingham's grandmother.

Lynch is stressing the importance of seatbelt use among teens -- and credits the seatbelt for saving Bingham's life.

She said her granddaughter and the driver of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, but the other three were not.

The Colorado State Patrol said the group's vehicle was driving too fast while eastbound on 38th Avenue, near Penrith Road, Tuesday afternoon when the driver lost control, causing the car to flip several times.

CSP said it does not suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Officials said the driver survived the initial crash, but the driver has not been identified.

School counselors, victim’s advocates and mental health representatives are available to any student or staff who wishes to talk about the accident, officials said.
