DENVER – A woman who was found dead in the City Park West neighborhood on Friday evening has been identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
Denver police officers responded to the area of E. 22nd Ave. and N. Downing St. on May 31 after getting reports of a person not breathing. Once at the scene, investigators were able to determine the death of 44-year-old Sirena Duran-Maw was suspicious.
Shortly after, investigators identified 49-year-old Erik Maw as a suspect and he was subsequently arrested for investigation of first-degree murder.
An autopsy found Duran-Maw died from blunt force injuries and manual strangulation. Her manner of death was ruled a homicide.
