DENVER – Police announced Monday they had arrested a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of vehicular homicide charges for a crash that killed a woman on Santa Fe Drive early Saturday.
Amanda Morris, 27, is accused of driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Santa Fe Drive and crashing into a northbound vehicle near the intersection with W. Harvard Ave. just before 3 a.m. Saturday.
Police said one of the passengers in that vehicle was ejected and died as a result of the crash. On Monday, the Denver coroner’s office identified her as 27-year-old Kelly Broderick.
In a probable cause statement for Morris’ arrest, a police officer who responded to the crash said Morris had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, trouble standing and had the odor of alcohol on her breath.
She was arrested and taken to a hospital, where the officer said she failed field sobriety tests. The officer wrote that results of blood draws to test her alcohol levels were pending.
Court records show Morris made her first court appearance Sunday and is due for her second advisement on Dec. 10.
