Windsor man accused of murdering man, strangling child formally charged with 19 counts

GREELEY, Colo. – A man who is accused of murdering man and strangling a female child at a Windsor home last week was formally charged Wednesday with 19 counts, including first-degree murder.

Trevor George, 32, has been charged with the following;

  • One count of first-degree murder after deliberation
  • One count of felony first-degree murder
  • One count of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder
  • One count of crime of violence
  • One count of first-degree assault
  • One count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury
  • One count of aggravated robbery
  • One count of first-degree burglary
  • One count of second-degree burglary
  • One count of criminal attempt to commit robbery
  • Two counts of first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft
  • Four counts of menacing
  • One count of possession of a weapon by a previous offender
  • One count of theft
  • One count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance

On Oct. 30, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a shooting along the 7900 block of Weld 62 (Crossroads Boulevard), just west of Weld County Road 17 near Windsor. At the scene, deputies found one person who had been shot and killed. The person's identity has not been released.

A spokesperson said deputies were able to connect George to a stolen Dodge Challenger Hellcat out of Windsor and a BOLO was issued. Another agency spotted the vehicle around 11 a.m. driving southbound on Interstate 25. Authorities followed him to an exit, where he went to a gas station on the corner of E. Mulberry Street and Greenfield Court. He was taken into custody. He was tased and evaluated at the scene, the sheriff's office said.

He was taken into custody at 11:40 a.m. on suspicion of auto theft, as the homicide case remains under investigation.

The Colorado State Patrol, Larimer County Sheriff's Office and the Fort Collins Police Department were involved in his arrest.

An advisement hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8:30 a.m.
