Suspect wanted in Morgan County trailer park shooting, deputies say

MORGAN COUNTY, Colo. – Authorities say a man is on the run following a shooting at a trailer park in Morgan County over the weekend.

Deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday Robert Antoni Sanchez, 27, of Fort Morgan, is wanted on charges of first-degree assault and attempted murder following a shooting at Pagel’s Trailer Park, located at the 16000 block of Road 19.

The shooting reportedly happened at around 10 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies were told about a possible shooting in Pagel’s Trailer Park at approximately 10:17 p.m. and were also told the victim, 22-year-old Andres Alvarez, had been driven to the a hospital for treatment.

Deputies then responded to the Colorado Plains Medical Center and found Alvarez with a serious gunshot wound to the upper leg. The victim was then flown to a Front Range trauma center for further treatment.

After speaking to witnesses, deputies found out that there was some type of confrontation that led to Sanchez shooting Alvarez, a press release from the sheriff’s office states.

When Alvarez was shot, a friend of his wrestled the gun away from Sanchez and fired a shot at Sanchez as he ran away, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said both men lived a short distance away from each other at the trailer park.

Sanchez is 5-foot-10 and weighs approximately 140 pounds. Deputies said he may have ties to the Greeley area.
