DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – Douglas County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect who they say carjacked another man, and ran over the victim with the victim's own car.
It happened at around 9:40 p.m. outside the Zen Wine & Spirits shop, located at 9854 Zenith Meridian Drive, just off Lincoln Avenue and east of I-25.
A Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sergeant said the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The store owner shared traumatic video of the ordeal with Denver7.
The footage shows a bald man in a white shirt enter the store, then walk out after just a few seconds. Witnesses say that's when the man got into the victim's black Infiniti convertible.
Surveillance video shows the moment the victim realizes what's going on, and shows the victim dashing out of the store to stop the suspect from taking off.
The footage shows the car reversing, and the car speeding off.
The carjacker reportedly hit the victim with his own car as he drove away from the scene, according to Sgt. Jeff Miller, a spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. No suspect description was immediately available.
Sgt. Miller only said the suspect is believed to be a Hispanic man.
Miller also confirmed the victim's car was running and unoccupied when the carjacking occurred.
Deputies were able to find the stolen car – a black Infiniti convertible – crashed at East Peakview Avenue and South Quebec Street in Centennial.
The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
