DENVER – The reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the people responsible for setting a home ablaze in Denver, killing five members of a Senegalese family in early August, was raised to $50,000 Tuesday.

The Colorado chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Colorado) announced Tuesday it would be contributing $10,000 to the already $40,000 put forth by Denver Crime Stoppers.

Djibril and Adja Diol, their daughter Khadija, and two others: Hassan Diol and her infant daughter, Hawa Baye, were killed in the fire on the 5300 block of North Truckee Street on Aug. 5.

No new leads have turned up in the homicide investigation since Aug. 18, when police released pictures of three people wearing full face masks and dark hoodies, as well as pictures of a dark-colored four-door sedan, that police say are connected to the suspected arson.

“We hope this reward will encourage those who have valuable information regarding this arson to come forward,” said Krista Cole, acting board chair of CAIR-Colorado.

Friends and other family members of the Diol family rallied a month after the deadly fire to call for justice.

In response, Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said the police department will not rest “until we hold those accountable for this horrific crime and bring justice to this family, to the Senegalese community and the people of Denver.”
