LONGMONT, Colo. — Police in Longmont are looking for a thief who stole a back backpack with $20,000 cash inside from the porch of a home Tuesday morning.

In addition to the cash, the backpack contained an entire family's personal information — four social security cards, two birth certificates, and two green cards, the department wrote on a Facebook post.

Police said the family was preparing to depart on a foreign trip when the theft occurred around 9:15 a.m. at a home off Larkspur Drive in southwest Longmont.

The vehicle involved was a newer model Jeep Wrangler edition with black accents. The Jeep has a black grill, black wheels, black decal on the hood, and black mud flaps on the rear tires. The Jeep also has an all-white body and a white hard top, which does not come on all models.

Longmont police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect or suspects involved. They are asking residents who live in the area to check their security cameras for any footage of the theft.

The public can contact the Longmont Emergency Communications Center at (303) 651-8501 if they have any information on the case.
