DENVER – One of two men arrested last week in connection to a deadly shooting in the Montbello neighborhood earlier this month has been formally charged by the Denver District Attorney.

Kylvito Garrette, 19, is being charged with one count each of first-degree murder after deliberation, felony murder-robbery and first-degree attempted murder, according to Ken Lane, a spokesperson for the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

The Denver DA did not say if the other suspect, 18-year-old Octavio Morales, had been formally charged yet.

Garrette is accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Abisai Ponce-Guitierrez and wounding an 18-year-old man on Feb. 3 in the area of Andrews Drive and East Elgin Place.

Garrette is scheduled to appear next in court on Feb. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
