THORNTON, Colo. – A large disturbance inside a Thornton sports bar left one woman dead and four other people injured overnight, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of “a large disturbance with weapons” at the Extra Point Sports Bar at 4050 E. 100th Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

At the scene, police found two men and two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators were also made aware that a man had walked into a hospital after he was stabbed at the bar.

One of the two injured women was later pronounced dead at an area hospital, Thornton Police Department spokesman Jesus Mendez said in a press release.

Officers initially said a person of interest had been identified and was being questioned by investigators. On Sunday, a police department spokesperson said the that man had been arrested. The spokesperson did not elaborate on what possible charges the suspect may face.

“This is an ongoing investigation and a sequence of events is still being put together,” Mendez said.

A manager at the Extra Point Bar & Grill said on the restaurant’s Facebook page that the bar would be closed until Monday, “due to an unexpected loss of one of our own.” The manager identified the employee as Brenda. No other information about the deceased victim was immediately available.

If anyone knows anything about this disturbance, you are asked to call the Thornton Police Department Tip Line at (720) 977-5069.
