AURORA, Colo. – A man who was arrested Friday following a shooting on North Sable Boulevard in Aurora has been identified.

Travon Sanders, 32, was arrested on a first-degree murder charge after fleeing the scene of the crime shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to an Aurora Police Department spokesperson.

Investigators said they found an adult male inside the home where the shooting was reported. He was taken to a hospital, but later died as a result of his injuries.

During the investigation and search for the suspect, police sent phone notifications to residents in the area alerting them that the suspect was on the loose.

He was eventually found a couple of blocks from the scene, police said.

Court records obtained by Denver7 show Sanders has been previously arrested for assault several times since 2008.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification to family members.

The case has been turned over to the 18th Judicial District. It’s unclear if Sanders has been assigned a public defender or an attorney to represent him in this case.
