CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – A man arrested in October on a sex assault charge in Arapahoe County, who claimed to be a former Denver Broncos player, has been arrested in a separate theft and forgery case out of Castle Rock.

James Otis Turner, 49, was arrested on Dec. 28 at the Douglas County jail for investigation on four felony charges, including theft between $100,000 and $1 million, identity theft, forgery and criminal impersonation charges, and was subsequently released on bond a $10,000 bond, according to Castle Rock police and court records.

According to police, Turner’s latest arrest came after a Castle Rock woman saw information about Turner’s October arrest and came forward to police. She said she had been defrauded of a “large sum” of money by Otis, who was falsely claiming to be a former Broncos player named Dante Sir Foster. An affidavit for Turner's arrest shows the woman told police Turner stole $115,000 from her after they met randomly at a car wash, started dating, and Turner claimed his mother was sick.

He also claimed he was not getting paid by his supposed NFL employers and was having financial trouble, after which the woman withdrew cash and took out loans worth $115,000 to give to him. The two broke up after which the woman tried unsuccessfully to get her money back, the affidavit says.

On a website called First Sports Reports, on which an entry about “Foster” is the only blog post, “Foster” claimed he was “6’2” and still running a 4:40 [40-yard dash].”

The woman whom Turner is accused of defrauding noticed Turner’s arrest last October on sex assault charges. Castle Rock police said Wednesday that “several” women have since come forward and told investigators that Turner identified himself to them as a Denver Bronco.

Police are still asking anyone with information regarding Turner (or “Foster”) to contact them at 720-733-3517 or by email at CrimeTips@CRgov.com.

Court records show that Turner has a court hearing scheduled for Thursday in the Douglas County case. Turner has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 15 in the Arapahoe County sex assault case.
