DENVER -- Police are searching for a gunman after a man was shot and critically wounded near a nightclub early Thursday morning.

The victim walked into the Stone Nightclub on Morrison Road, near Kentucky Avenue, at about 2 a.m. after being shot during what police are calling an apparent robbery that happened nearby.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses said the suspect got away in a red Camaro that was stolen in that robbery.

Officers spotted the car about an hour later and there was a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 25.

Officers tracked the Camaro to Centennial where they surrounded the car, but the suspect had already fled.

Police are looking for the suspect. He's described as a 24-year-old Hispanic man, who is 5'8" tall with a face tattoo.
