LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle in Lakewood early Tuesday evening, police said in a press release Wednesday.

Richard Hansing, 36, was hit by an SUV traveling west on Alameda near the intersection of South Depew St. at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to a hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash, police said in the release.

Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash, according to police, who added the driver was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant out of another jurisdiction. The person behind the wheel was only identified as being 58-year-old.

“At this time, it does not appear that the driver was at-fault in this accident,” police said.

This was the second vehicle-related fatality in Lakewood on Tuesday, after a man was arrested late that evening on suspicion of DUI and vehicular homicide for allegedly hitting his brother with this car, ultimately killing him.
