FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado man accused of threatening to blow up his mother’s mobile home and barricading himself inside as police arrived has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

The Coloradoan reports 44-year-old Joseph Norrie was sentenced Friday in connection with the March 2018 standoff with police.

Officers on scene reported the smell of gas coming from the mobile home, but Norrie’s attorney said later tests showed there was little danger of an explosion.

Attorney Lance Thibert also said Norrie has mental health issues and asked a judge to order mental health treatment as part of his sentence for the criminal mischief offense.

Prosecutors, though, said Norrie had not completed a sentence in wellness court on prior drug charges and should receive prison time.
