FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado Judge says she will reconsider the $100,000 bond she set for a former volunteer hockey coach who fled the country to evade child sex assault charges in Fort Collins.
Eighth Judicial District Court Judge Susan Blanco says she’ll hold another hearing on Tuesday after parents of the victims say they didn’t know about the March 27 bond hearing for 27-year-old Andrew Vanderwal.
Vanderwal was arrested in Mexico in February after skipping out on a $7,500 bond.
The Coloradoan reports the parents said they would have argued for Vanderwal to be held without bond. He remained jailed Saturday.
The FBI says Vanderwal volunteered with a hockey program for kids 8 and under and had moved in with each family after gaining their trust. Four families reported that Vanderwal abused their children.
