Homeless man wanted in woman's deadly stabbing in downtown Denver arrested

Posted

DENVER – A homeless man wanted in connection with the stabbing death of a mother of four in downtown Denver was arrested over the weekend, the Denver Police Department said Saturday.

Terry Lane Dunford II, 40, was arrested in the area of 19th and Blake Streets late Friday evening, according to Denver Police Department spokesman Doug Schepman.

Dunford is currently being held for investigation of first-degree murder.

The arrest comes after Jeanna Leslie's body was found inside her apartment at the Rio Grande Lofts on Valentine's Day. The mother of four had recently moved to Denver to be near her two youngest children.

Speaking to Denver7’s Liz Gelardi, Leslie’s daughter said the family became alarmed when Leslie didn't show up to take her kids to a basketball game. Police were called to Leslie’s apartment on a welfare check when her body was discovered. An autopsy revealed she had been stabbed multiple times the day before her body was found

It’s unclear if Dunford has been assigned a public defender or attorney to represent him.
