DENVER – The driver of a pick-up truck was arrested Sunday afternoon following a fatal crash on eastbound Interstate 70 and Interstate 25 that occurred in the early hours of the day.
The driver, who has not been identified, was arrested more than 12 hours after a semi-truck and the pick-up crashed on the eastbound lanes of I-70 and I-25. Police said the semi caught fire following the crash.
The driver of the semi was declared dead at the scene, according to police.
The Denver Police Department tweeted the driver of the pick-up reportedly left the scene of the crash, which occurred at around 12:11 Sunday morning.
The suspect was caught just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday and is being held on investigation of vehicular homicide.
The highway was closed for about 14 hours as investigators combed the scene.
