DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – A Douglas County School District teacher was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a child Friday, according to Castle Rock police.

Steve Jenkins was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail after school district officials were made aware Jenkins “was using his cell phone inappropriately,” according to a Castle Rock Police Department spokesman.

Jenkins is being held without bond.

Paula Hans, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County School District, said Jenkins worked as a math teacher for three years at Castle View High School – from August 2014 to May 2017 – before he went to Renaissance Secondary School.

Debbie Rabideau, principal at Renaissance School, wrote in a letter sent to parents that the school is working along with Castle Rock Police as they conduct their investigation, adding the school is contacting parents “whom we believe were impacted by Mr. Jenkins’ activities.”

From his part, Dr. Rex Corr, the principal of Castle View High School, said they “have not been notified of any connection between this investigation and CVHS.”

Jenkins’ first court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 8:30 a.m.

If anyone has any more information, contact Castle Rock police at (303) 663-6100.
