AURORA, Colo. – Two people were found dead inside a home in Aurora after police responded to a welfare check Friday evening.

Police tweeted they were investigating a welfare check at a home in the area of East Mississippi Avenue and South Grande Baker Street at approximately 5 p.m. when they heard a shot fired inside the home, according to spokesman Bill Hummel.

"At that point they slowed things down and requested additional resources to include our strategic response team," said Hummal. "And they responded with some equipment and we handled this similar to a SWAT call."

Upon gaining entry into the home, they found two people dead inside.

Police would not release the gender of the people found or their relationship, but they said there was no threat to the public.
