Brighton police: Vehicle sought in fatal hit-and-run crash

BRIGHTON, Colo. – The Brighton Police Department is asking for your help to find a vehicle that fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash which resulted in one man being killed early Wednesday evening.

Police said Michael Steven Maes, 62, was crossing Bridge St. near 6th Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a light-colored sedan traveling in the westbound lanes.

The vehicle that struck Maes fled the area without stopping to render aid, but is believed be a light-colored, possibly white, 4-door sedan with heavy damage to the front-end, hood, and windshield, police said in a press release.

Maes was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
